Greetings and Welcome to the TABPHE Website!
Since 1973, the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education has been a dynamic organization which provides a statewide vehicle for a diverse, multicultural workforce to learn, share, direct, lead and influence our educational system. As rich as the organization is in resources, it is also rich in history. The founders of this great organization had a vision to “formally organize an association to promote, maintain and assure the development and growth of African Americans in the educational process.”
As your President, it is my vision to continue the legacy of our founders and to “raise the bar” for us personally and professionally in order to improve higher education for African Americans in the state. TABPHE has adopted a Strategic Plan that will guide us to fulfill our mission. During my tenure, I will focus on:
- strengthening and developing local chapters across the state;
- enhancing communication to our members with particular emphasis on our life members;
- nurturing collaborations with state and national organizations with similar missions; and,
- enhancing visibility to both internal and external publics
It is my belief that with your assistance, commitment and dedication, we can continue and enhance the strong tradition of the founders and continue the TABPHE legacy of excellence.
Sincerely,
Felicia J. Scott, Ph.D.
State President
