Register Now for TABPHE 2008 State Conference - "35 years of TABPHE and Still Passing the Torch"

Greetings TABPHE Members, Friends and Colleagues:

Laurie FlukerIt is my pleasure to welcome you to the TABPHE web site and into our family!

The Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education is a dynamic organization which provides a statewide vehicle for a diverse, multicultural workforce to learn, share, direct, lead and influence our educational system. As rich as the organization is in resources, it is also rich in history. The founders of this great organization had a vision to “formally organize an association to promote, maintain and assure the development and growth of African Americans in the educational process.”

As your President, it is my vision to continue in the same spirit of our founders and to challenge each of us to work to improve higher education for African Americans in the state. To this end, TABPHE has adopted a Strategic Plan that will concentrate on four goals during my tenure as President. These goals are:

  • Increase the communication among members, from Board to membership, from the organization to external publics (public relations, visibility)
  • Increase the active/participating membership base
  • Strengthen the long-term financial position of the organizations
  • Increase the overall productivity of the organization (collaborations, programs, activities, development)

It is my belief that with your assistance, commitment and dedication, we can continue and enhance the strong tradition of the founders and continue the TABPHE legacy of excellence.

Sincerely,

Laurie Hayes Fluker, Ph.D.
State President
