TABPHE 35th Annual State ConferenceApril 3-6, 2008 • Omni Hotel • Four Riverway,
Houston, Texas The Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE) invites you and other college and university personnel to celebrate its 35th anniversary and to participate in what will be the year’s best investment toward your professional development in 2008. Thirty-five years ago, the founders of TABPHE had the foresight to understand how such an organization would be invaluable to black students, faculty, staff and administrators across the state in the field of higher education. Throughout these many years, these pioneers have been joined by hundreds of leaders who have demonstrated the drive and passion that have kept this vision alive. This vision has helped TABPHE to progress, to constantly move forward, during these thirty-five years, and also to give back in the form of development, motivation, networking and scholarships. However, we must continue to strive to improve as an organization, as a people, and as professionals in higher education. We must continue to rededicate ourselves and re-ignite the passion that helped bring about the successes of the past. This conference will be a call for a higher order of excellence and service. We must continue to place ourselves at the table where limited resources are distributed to our children, to our students, and to our institutions. Using a new paradigm, we must achieve excellence by combining our energies and efforts to ensure continuous progress for African Americans and other minority students in Texas. TABPHE’s annual state conference is specifically designed to assess the needs and promote the goals of Blacks in higher education. Each year, this prestigious affair attracts attention across the state by bringing together representatives from academia, state government, corporations, private industry and non-profit organizations. The event is also an excellent venue for local, state and national businesses to showcase their products and services. Houston, the “Bayou City,” is the host city for the TABPHE 2008 Conference. The TABPHE 2008 Conference is your opportunity to serve and play a significant role in a big movement to prepare the way for the future |
